Earthquake Relief

Posted: August 8, 2015

On April 25th, an earthquake measuring 7.9 on the Richter scale hit Nepal. According to records, this was the biggest tremor since the one (8.0 Richter scale) that occurred in 1934. Two major after-shocks on 26th April (magnitude of 6.7 Richter) and another on 12th May (magnitude of 7.3 Richter) added to the human losses and physical damages in the country.

Centre for Integrated Urban Development (CIUD) in partnership with international contributors and local community seek to support the ultra-poor and most vulnerable families in with relief materials based on local need. With the support of our international/ domestic partners (UN Habitat- Japan & Mojang, Action Aid Nepal, Australian Himalayan Foundation), CIUD provided emergency relief materials such as mosquito nets, tarpauline, piyush and more for the immediate needs of local communities within and surrounding Kathmandu Valley.
