Tulasha Devi Primary School located at Kot Danda of Godwari Municipality was established in 2049 B.S. There are 27 students studying from class one to three.  The school was affected by the Earthquake of 2015. As the school was completely destructed by the Earthquake, school was not being able to conducted classes. Students have been displaced in the Temporary Learning Center nearby the school. All the students from class nursery to class 3 studies in combined so the students are not being able to get proper and quality education.

A student named Sampurna Nagarkoti innocently said, “I don’t know why teachers are not shifting us to newly built school.” Little Nagarkoti promptly showed us 6 steps of handwashing when I asked her due to know handwashing steps.

In the context of sanitation, a pit latrine of two rooms made from CGI and bamboos were constructed. The toilet is located in terrain of the field surrounded by the bushes. It was observed that students have to walk through steep and slippery trail to reach the toilet. Again the condition of latrine was poor and without water availability.

“The students are very young and they don’t know what is right and what is wrong, they get very excited and start running towards toilet when we announce break. Few have already fallen and got hurt.” explained by Mr. Surya Prasad Pokharel principal of the school. He again added that As toilet is in isolated place sometime students gets scared of reaching the toilet and urinate and defecated on the way to toilet which is making the environment around the school filthy.

An organization named Chora-Chori Organization had helped them build a school building with 7 rooms. Although the school building is ready, there is not availability of toilet. So school was shaking support to built toilet so that it can shift the student to the newly built school.

CIUD with funded partner OXFAM decided to support Tulasha Devi Primary School. The teachers and the Principal of the school are delighted to know that they are being supported by project to construct toilet and a hand-washing station.

“Our school is located in an isolated area. We want to thank CIUD for reaching us and planning to support us. After the support, we will be able to shift to our original place and properly run classes.”
