Where there is a will there is a way!

"Since I'm very old and I'm also suffering from asthma, I couldn't go to my neighbor's toilet as often as I wanted to due to difficulty in walking. But now with the support of CIUD it's easy for me to use my own toilet anytime.”

Maili tamang (77 years old) resident of Poudol, Godawari is a single woman. Her son and daughter in law live separately nearby but don't look after her. Due to the earthquake of 25th April 2015, her house was slightly cracked but her toilet was completely damaged. She used to use her neighbor's toilet which was little far from her home. After the list of beneficiaries (Earthquake affected, vulnerable and marginalized) provided by MWASHCC, CIUD with the support of Oxfam supported her with pan, pipe, cement and ring to construct toilet. She lives alone and had no one to help her construct toilet. Her son refused to help her too. The construction materials provided were left untouched. She often requested her son to help her in construction of the toilet but he didn’t agree. She also asked CIUD to take back the construction materials as she was unable to find help.

With the frequent visit and consultation CIUD finally convinced her neighbor to help her. Now she has her own toilet behind her house.
