  On Poush 16, 2075 (December 31, 2018), Monday, at District Coordination Committee Hall, Babarmahal, Kathmandu, Centre for Integrated Urban Development (CIUD) organized a half day program on Review, Lesson Learnt and Feedback on Cholera/AGE Prevention and Preparedness program – 2018 and Way Forward with Health Officials of Kathmandu Metropolitan City. Child Centered Risk Mapping (CCRM) program is all about making children identify with the possible risk by oneself. There are lots of risks arising for the children day by day, not only the issue of big problems like kidnapping, rape, and other tortures, but the things which we ignore but later leads to the huge problem, which knowingly or unknowingly bring problem for the children.   Fear is the most dangerous things that we try to overcome. In some cases, we find minute fear but for some it becomes a huge risk for their lives. (more…)

CIUD celebrated Global Hand Washing Day 2018 on 11th October 2018 in Wisdom English Academy; a private school located in Kalanki, for encouraging children for better life leading future towards new dimension through handwashing. The program was organized under the CIUD’s Urban Child-Centered Risk Mapping (U-CCRM) program which is being implemented in collaboration with Kathmandu Metropolitan City and UNICEF.   (more…)

Celebrating this year’s World Habitat Day with the slogan ‘managing municipal solid waste’, CIUD and partners successfully organized Urban Dabali on September 28 at DUDBC hall in Babarmahal. In the presence of about one hundred audience, from different sectors including government and the private and the audience who were connected virtually (similar to webinar), the three speaker expressed their views and opinions on the municipal solid waste management from different angles through the power point presentations followed by the questions and answers. CIUD in Collaboration with UN-Habitat successfully provided a comprehensive technical training on masonry building for the civil and structural engineers of the Kathmandu valley. With the key aim of preparing technical human resources for structure designing and analysis as well as supervising the actual implementation of the design in the traditional buildings, the five-day training was confined in the designing aspects of the masonry buildings with the depth analysis of structure system of load bearing buildings. CIUD Continues its Ventures on Rainwater Harvesting and Groundwater Recharging Centre for Integrated Urban Development (CIUD) has completed yet another rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharging project in the Kathmandu valley. With the completion of the parts of the project in Underprivileged Children’s Educational Program (UCEP) Nepal, Sano Thimi, Bhaktapur, the project Rainwater Harvesting and Groundwater Recharge in Kathmandu Valley has been successfully implemented. The other part of the project was in Ranibari community forest in Ranibari.  The project, a joint initiative of The Coca-Cola Foundation, WaterAid Nepal and CIUD, has been considered as a role model of public private partnership and as an approach in the climate change adaptation in the urban water security.
