Lives have been lost and people are injured. Houses have collapsed and many damaged to the unlivable conditions. Since people have started to live in temporary tents, they are facing problems of drinking water, food, sanitation, hygiene and security.

In Kirtipur wards 9, 10, 11, 12, 16, 18 have been hit hard while other wards have also been damaged . As per our contact in the Kirtipur Municipality, 68 corpse were taken out. They have reported that MORE THAN 150 people have lost their lives from different parts of the municipality in Kirtipur. More than 25 in Chap area,  48 near Jalbinayak side, Prime Casualties is in PANGA SIDE. As per our visit in Kirtipur wards that have been hit hard, the situation is very disturbing. For example, at the household level, few members of a household have passed away while few are in the hospitals and few are in the shelters. The houses that have cracks and structurally not sound will need to be checked by experts before people can move back into their houses.  As reported by the community, more than 700 people of Panga area do not have shelter in Kirtipur. Many injured and almost all are in the state of shock.

In Kavre district, Nala wards 1, 2, 3 and 4 are largely affected while other wards are also hard hit. In total 3 people lost their lives while most of the residents of the core town have been displaced temporarily or permanently due to the damage caused by the mega-earthquake.
