CIUD in Collaboration with UN-Habitat successfully provided a comprehensive technical training on masonry building for the civil and structural engineers of the Kathmandu valley. With the key aim of preparing technical human resources for structure designing and analysis as well as supervising the actual implementation of the design in the traditional buildings, the five-day training was confined in the designing aspects of the masonry buildings with the depth analysis of structure system of load bearing buildings. CIUD Continues its Ventures on Rainwater Harvesting and Groundwater Recharging Centre for Integrated Urban Development (CIUD) has completed yet another rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharging project in the Kathmandu valley. With the completion of the parts of the project in Underprivileged Children’s Educational Program (UCEP) Nepal, Sano Thimi, Bhaktapur, the project Rainwater Harvesting and Groundwater Recharge in Kathmandu Valley has been successfully implemented. The other part of the project was in Ranibari community forest in Ranibari.  The project, a joint initiative of The Coca-Cola Foundation, WaterAid Nepal and CIUD, has been considered as a role model of public private partnership and as an approach in the climate change adaptation in the urban water security. Sixty-years-old Maili Bharati is a single woman residing in Dhobikhola; ward no 2 of Godawari Municipality with her divorcee daughter and a grandson. She has been single for over 35 years. She raised her two daughters with all she had, doing labor works and farming, but she could not educate her daughters and she regrets it by saying, "If I had the support of my husband's family I could have sent my daughters to school and they wouldn't have to face the crisis and sorrow like me.
